What does sign out completely mean? For example if you power off your iPhone do you need to enter the verification code next time you power on the iPhone?

That would mean going into settings, tapping your name at the top, scrolling to the bottom and tapping “sign out”.

Power cycling your phone does not sign you out of iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime nor the App or music stores. You must manually sign out of those to completely sign each or any out.

Again, the only time you will need a code is if you manually sign your AppleID out of one of the accounts - iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, the App, music or Book stores.

Logging in and out of your local user account on your Mac or power cycling any device does nothing to your AppleID signed into services on that device.

With an Apple website that uses your AppleID, like these forums, you can choose to trust the site. That means you shouldn’t have to need a code again unless you don’t access the site again for several weeks, or you delete your cookies.

Simply using the internet and websites that don’t use your AppleID has nothing to do with your AppleID, thus nothing to do with 2FA.

2FA is specifically about a second layer of security when using your AppleID. If something isn’t using your AppleID, it has nothing to do with 2FA. And 2FA has nothing to do with local user access to a Mac or iPhone or iPad. Your local user account in your Mac is not using your AppleID to access the Mac itself.

Thanks for the info on the iPhone. I'm concerned about how often I will need to enter a verification code. What about the MacBookPro. Does signing out completely mean doing Logout. I'm the only person using my computer so I never log out.

will my daily use of the computer and the internet mean constantly having to enter verification codes each time I go to a new website - or just when I change my apple password?
