Lossless audio with Bluetooth

I’m a bit confused by this: “Lossless will play back normally on Bluetooth speakers and headphones. However, Bluetooth connections don’t support lossless audio.” What does this mean exactly?

I assume what it means is that it will work but maybe not at full performance quality over Bluetooth. It is a potential Bluetooth limitation and Apple cannot do anything about that.
