If I were to get the SE Apple Watch (40mm) would I be able to connect it to my airpods and play music without my iphone present? In other words, can I go on a run without my iphone but still listen to music through my airpods, just using the Apple Watch to bluetooth?
Yes absolutely, that is basically fully supported. (Apart from a minor glitch with the podcasts app but is not a show stopper either).
