How to download Imovie on a new account on the Macbook Pro

Hello,

I am using a used MacBook Pro and after deleting Imovie from the applications folder, it stills says an update on the app store but when I clicked on it says that it was purchased with another Apple ID. How do I make it say download and not update?

Since iMovie 10 was initially acquired on your used MacBook Pro with a different Apple I.D, and you have deleted iMovie, you won't be able to update or download iMovie unless you can sign in with the previous user's I.D. If you have a second Mac with iMovie 10 on it possibly you could copy over the app to your MacBook Pro. It would depend on what operating system you are running.

In the future when you want to update iMovie, before deleting it it is best to drag it into the trash, but do not empty the trash until the new download or update is complete. That way if the download is unsuccessful you can drag the iMovie app out of the trash and replace it in the Applications folder.
