Brightness issue with LG4K monitor and M1 MacMini

Essentially it's like my display isn't actually reflecting the maximum brightness possible even when adjusting brightness via the keyboard and the on-screen brightness indicator shows it at the max. I'm able to fix this by going into System Prefs -> Displays and tweaking the brightness. Even though it shows brightness max there as well, just moving the slider allows the monitor to actually get as bright as possible.

It does this every time the Mac goes to sleep.

Connecting to the display using the Thunderbolt out from the MacMini.

Check to see True Tone is available and enabled with that display.

So if I turn the brightness all the way up from the keyboard, the monitor is lit like it's only at 50% brightness. If I go into System Pref > Displays the slider is up all the way; it appears to be at 100%. If I grab that slider and move it a little then the monitor actually goes up to 100% brightness.

It's like the monitor gets stuck thinking it's at 100% brightness when it really isn't and messing with the slider makes it realize that somehow.
