iPhones Disrupt Customer Service Menus

Noticed on my iPhone 8 that when I called customer service (of different companies), the audio would start cutting in and out when going through automated menus (where they say press "1" for x, press "2" for y...... Thought this was just an issue with the phone but its started happening with my iPhone 12 mini.


Any ideas?

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that when you call different customer service companies the audio is disrupted and we would like to help! Let’s make sure that the software on the iPhone has been updated to the latest supported version iOS 14.6. If the iPhone has not yet been updated to iOS 14.6 back up the iPhone first before updating it.

If the iPhone is updated and the audio is still cutting in and out, then follow all the steps in the Apple Support article If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker
