Sharing card as participant has a different card number

I set up card sharing successfully for my wife as a participant. The surprise is she now has a different card number than mine. It might be just me but I find this counterintuitive. She hasn't used her "new card" yet but it will be interesting to find out what happens.

It's also not clear if we can "see" each other's card activity.
