Photos to mac

Hi, most of my photos are on my iPhone. Somehow a number of them are on my mac. I don’t have iCloud photos turned on but do have photo stream. Though many of the mac photos are old.

I want to synch my iPhone photos with my Mac but am apprehensive in case the synch removes iPhone photos to reflect the reduced amount on my Mac. Is this liable to happen? ( I don’t want to outback my photos in the cloud but keep them on my phone)

thank you

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 14

Use Image Capture to download all of your photos and videos to a folder on your Desktop. Then you can import that folder into your Photos library and if there are any duplicates you'll be warned and be given the option to not import them.

This will not delete the photos from your iPhone unless you check the checkbox to do so.
