How come I can watch live sports on the apple tv app on my phone but not on my tv? I am new to this, some ody help please

On Apple’s own iOS, the Apple TV app can integrate with other connected apps to bring you live sports. On third party devices, such cross-app integration is not possible.
On third party devices, the Apple TV app offers
- iTunes Store movies and TV shows (buy or rent);
- Apple TV+ channel featuring Apple Originals, by subscription;
- other premium Apple TV app Channels, each by subscription.
On Apple own OS (iOS, iPadOS, tvOS), the Apple TV app offers additionally
- Connected apps for integration with Watch Now, Up Next, Sports (US and CA), select live news;
- iTunes Extras;
- Home Sharing.
