Lossless audio on Mac

According to Apple support to listen to lossless audio you have to turn lossless on by turning it on under Audio Quality found in the Playback tab under Music-Preferences, of courses for macOS 11.4.

Unfortunately on my Mac. Mini, Mac OS 11.4, there is no such setting for Audio Quality.

Please advise.

This setting is explained in an Apple support article titled "About lossless audio in Apple Music" dated 26/05/2021

As I said above, that is referring to the Apple Music subscription service,

though they are not making it very obvious which offers both AAC

lossy and ALAC lossless.

Again, if you already have your own lossless rips of CDs, Music will

play whatever lossless format it is, assuming it is supported.

Again to clarify further, Apple Music is a subscription service.

Music is the app to curate, organize, and play music. The two

are not the same.

You may be confusing two different things.

The upcoming Apple Music subscription service addition

to make available lossless versions of songs available

in their catalog may indeed have some option setting

to stream or download lossless versions of a song.

However, if you have ripped CDs or otherwise recorded

audio in a lossless format that you have on your Mac,

you will still just play them as usual.
