The only use for the IMEI is to identify your phone to the network. It cannot be used for any other purpose. You will have to follow the instructions on the screen to reset your password. If the Apple ID shown for Activation Lock is not yours you will have to contact the person that owns that Apple ID or you will never be able to use the phone.
