Apple Watch: Too many passcode attempts and cant reset via watch or phone

I have had too many passcode attempts (its a long story) and now get the message Reset Apple Watch and Pair Again. The problem is I cant do a reset from my watch, because it is locked. When I tried doing it from my phone, I must have done something wrong, because all watch data/info has been lost from my phone, yet my phone won’t let me re-pair automatically and the manual set-up requires access to the “i” icon on the watch. What to do?!?

On a computer, go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.

Go to Find Iphone.

Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch.

Click Erase Apple Watch.

Select Next until the device is erased.

Click the remove button next to your Apple Watch.
