New iPad has a smaller end on cable

Ordered a 2nd iPad. First is about 1.5 years old. The end of the charging cable and the charger, of course, on the new one is a smaller size than the original, what I consider standard USB cable. The two iPhones in the house also have the standard size cable. What do we call this new cord/charger size? Thanks for your help.

If you bought a current iPad Air or iPad Pro that would be USB-C, if you bought an iPad 8 or an iPad mini 5, it would be "lightning" though the cable end on the charger side maybe USB-C.

Are you sure its a seventh generation iPad? A Seventh Generation iPad has a Lightning port not USB-C same as the 8th generation iPad. They both have the same lightning port. The cables may be different as one may have been traditional lightning to USB-A while the 8th generation currently ships with a Lightning to USB-C cable.

Apple does not include micro USB cables for anything. no way it would be in there.

Lightning on the left side, USB-C on the right side.
