New iPad has a smaller end on cable

Ordered a 2nd iPad. First is about 1.5 years old. The end of the charging cable and the charger, of course, on the new one is a smaller size than the original, what I consider standard USB cable. The two iPhones in the house also have the standard size cable. What do we call this new cord/charger size? Thanks for your help.

The 7th and 8th gen iPads have Apple Lightnng connector ports.

The Apple power/charging adapter blocks that ship with these models are 18W or 20W USB-C power/charging adapter blocks.

The Apple supplied power/charging cable is a Lightning to USB-C cable.

The smaller USB-C end plugs into USB-C adapter.
