Apple ID password and keychain

I recently changed my Apple ID password. Of course, now when I want to download an App, all of my devices require the new password (the first time). When the App Store asks for my Apple ID and password, Keychain does not fill it in.

When I go to Keychain, there is not an entry for my Apple ID and password. So I have to write it down on paper, which is less secure than Keychain.

Does Apple not allow Keychain to remember my Apple ID and password? Or is something flaky.

I use the latest iOS, but High Sierra on my Mac.

Before I spend hours troubleshooting this, I am trying to find out if Apple not using Keychain for user name and password for access to the App Store, iTunes, etc. is normal or I have a problem.

And yes, once I sign in, I don't have to access the password again (usually). This only came up because I changed my Apple ID password.

If you sign out of the App Store, it would be interesting if your Keychain would automatically access your password for you on your (iPhone, iPad, ?).

The Mac should remember it in Keychain, but hard to find in KA.

Accountsd asking you often…

Just open the "Keychain Access", click right on the "login" keychain in the sidebar, select "Change settings for Keychain "login"" and unselect both options "Lock after ..." and "Lock when sleeping". – Tom Kraina Sep 8 '16 at 10:55

If your Mac keeps asking for the login keychain password

The password of your macOS user account might not match the password of your login keychain. Either create a new login keychain or update it with your new password.

Not sure you answered my question. So help me out.

I changed my Apple ID password on my Mac. When my iPhone and iPad (and AppleTV) ask for the new Apple ID password, it does not appear in Keychain, even though that is all synced across the devices (and works for other passwords).

But once I enter it, I only have to enter it once. It does not keep asking me.

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup). Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?
