Permission to Connect To Local Network

I have a strange one. Yesterday on my iPhone 11 iOS 14.6 almost every app began to ask for permission to attach to my local network (see attached). It's been several days since I upgraded to iOS 14.6 so I can't claim that as a direct cause. Any thoughts?

Thanks!!

This is a relatively new privacy feature; it works as described. It allows an app to search your local Wi-Fi network for other iPhones/iPads and apps and other content of the same type. If you choose "don’t allow" the app will still work, but if you are playing with someone using the same app your connection will go through the Internet rather than just locally on your private network.

Thanks Lawrence!! I've seen that before, what puzzled me is why all of a sudden after several months, almost EVERY app began asking that question?
