While my MSI MAG272CQR monitor will charge my MacBook Air M1, it will not display any image. (HDMI works).
I tried to use this screen as a 2nd monitor with a new iMac (M1) also through USB-C, but still no luck.
Any ideas?

Just got a response from the screen's manufacturer. They inform me that there are in fact 2 different USB-C to USB-C cables.
The ones I used (one came from Apple with the MacBook, they other from Anker) are apparently only for power and "low" speed data transfers .
The "right" cable allows monitors to be connected and data transfer up to 40 Gbps.
Just ordered the latter and will update this post.

Maybe.. you can get a refresh rate up to 120hz . I don’t think Macs will
do 144 hz. If you go to system prefs, then display, then hold down the ‘Option’ key while clicking you should see ‘scaled for display.” Go for that. Do a “detect display”. If no luck… do a zap pram 3 to 4 times on startup, following Apple’s procedure for doing so. Apple has a support page for notebooks and it should have something there about zapping pram and resetting the smc/pmu. Of course, you know the model of your MacBook Air and that it’s an M1. So you could use google or yahoo to get that info.
