Paired HomePod mini main talking speaker

I have a paired minis one on each side of the bed. I used to be able to make the new be on my side of the bed primary for Siri conversations. Now I can’t seem to get it working since 14.6 update. The mini on the other side of the only speaks for Siri conversations.

anyone have a clue so that I can switch. I know I can just move the speakers but I was able to do it in previous versions so I thought I would ask.
