HomePod 2’s with Mini’s

It would seem to only make good sense for Apple to use HomePod Mini’s as rear speakers when you have a Stereo Pair of HomePod Gen 2’s as your main Home Theater speakers. What do you think and do you see that happening?

HomePod 2 and mini in stereo? I received and set up my new HomePod 2 today and was under the impression it couldn’t be paired up with a mini to use in stereo. I was quite surprised then to find that it paired up and worked well with my already current x2 HomePod mini setup. So I now have an amazing surround sound setup using the new Hompod 2 as a woofer. All reviews I read and watched (up until last month) said it couldn’t be done. Is this something new Apple have introduced?

Make HomePod mini work as home theater speakers Why can’t I use HomePod mini as home theater? It appears to advertised to be used as a home theater speaker. I paired two mini’s together but cannot make them the default speakers in the HomeKit app.

New HomePod, no stereo pairing? I just read the new 2023 HomePod small letter information. “To create a stereo pair you need two HomePod speakers of the same model”. I actually have two home pods mini. (Living room and bedroom). I was thinking in buying a new HomePod and to pair it with one of the HomePod mini. Why it is not possible? Do I have to spend more than 700€ to do it? Did Apple think about the brand loyal customers?
