iPad mini 2 stopped and need to connect to itunes

My IPad mini 2 wasn't in used for a couple weeks. When I signed in again, I entered a couple of times the passwords, it didn't work. So I forgot my password.

It asked now to connect to iTunes. But it wasn't connected to iTunes once before.

How to remove the password protection and reset?

It doesn’t matter if the iPad has ever been connected to, synced with, or backed up with iTunes in the past. The only way to get back into it if you forgot the passcode or if the device is disabled is by connecting to iTunes on a computer or by using the Finder on a Mac running Catalina or Big Sur.

If you mean that you have never backed up, it’s too late for that now. All that you can do is erase the device and start over again.

This explains what you have to do.
