persistent wifi issues with new imac

my new imac is having a really tough time streaming video. all our other devices in the house are working with no issues. i've tried restarting the computer and the router and there hasn't been much change. my keyboard is having some connection issues too. it'll just start inserting a lot of spaces while i'm typing. anyone else experiencing this?

How old is your router and are you positive there is a strong signal from the router to the iMac. You can use a tool such as iStumbler to measure the WiFi strength in the room the iMac is in. This could be the cause of your issues. However, please start with How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity
