When I open my phone it defaults to September 2019. I have to click on Today to get it right. And immediately after I add a calendar event-same thing; it defaults to September 2019. I am always having to check if I added the event correctly because as soon as I add an event-my calendar displays September 2019. Anyone else have this problem?

Since deleting my boss's outlook calendar and then re-installing it I have not yet had my calendar open up to the wrong month/year. Success!
I have for a long time had the same issue. Can’t recall if was prior to getting my iPhone 11 though. My calendar will click back to October 2019. I don’t know a solution, but after following a suggestion from another thread (disable all calendars, close out app, open and click one calendar, close out app again, open, repeat for each calendar) I was able to pinpoint that somehow the problem lies with my boss’ shared outlook calendar. I figured this out because I did the above recommendations and one at a time added my own and family iCals and any other shared calendars. It didn’t happen at all until I turned his calendar back on. Then it did it immediately. No idea what that would mean- I might try deleting it and re-sharing it to myself though so maybe that will help. Will update if it does….
The last date selected in the Calendar is saved. Even after you close the App the Date remains there and if you open the Calendar App the same date will be opened. If without tapping "Today" you add an event then the event will be added to the date you last opened.
Always tap today.
I’m having the same issue. I use my calendar daily, multiple times each day. How can I go about changing the default to the current day? I went to general/Settings/Date and Time/ and revised the default to Cupertino (somehow it was Anchorage). But that shouldn’t affect calendar date. Any advice is welcomed!
Mine has been defaulting to Sept 21 2019, too! It happened on the iPhone 8S I had before upgrading to the 12 last month— and its still happening on the 12.
it must be something in the iOS if was happening on an old phone and this brand new one, right?
how did y’all fix it? I had a funeral that weekend and every time it opens to that date, I’m reminded of a sad time. I even tried deleting the events to see if that was the problem, but nope. Always back to Sept 21.

I have the same issue but for november 2019. SravanKrA your answer does not provide clarity as to why this date is selected vs iOS just defaulting to "today".

Maybe more users have to report this? I am sure we are not the only ones with this issue. I don’t see anywhere to set a default date for the calendar either.
