Asterisk (star) sound on iPhone keypad

My telebanking service asks me to touch the asterisk (star) key on my phone's keypad to access services. I have done this but the service does not seem to recognize my touching of the keyboard.

Has anyone had the same problem and is there a way to make it work?

I have iPhone 11 with iOS 14.4.2

If you haven’t already follow the steps in Restart your iPhone first.

Is this happening on multiple calls?

Are you hearing a sound when you press the star key?
