Apple Health Data is So Wrong

The Apple Health app is completely incompetent at dealing with data from other apps. I've had multiple issues.

  1. I have my workout data synced across multiple services (Strava, Fitbod, and Garmin Connect are the main ones). The problem is that apple health does not seem to recognize this, so when a workout is logged on multiple sources (let's say Garmin sends my bike ride to Strava), it thinks that these are separate workouts (in this case, the bike ride is logged twice, once from Garmin, the other from Strava). Apple should be able to de-duplicate these entries. The image below shows an example of this.
  2. My Garmin watch tracks my distance walked, but Apple duplicates this because I often have my phone on me as well.
  3. If I go for a run and use my Garmin watch, and carry my iPhone, then my distance traveled is TRIPLED. Once from Garmin total distance, traveled, once from iPhone, and then distance traveled is counted again because it's part of a workout. Apple sometimes thinks I've walked over 20 miles in a day.

All of these issues just make Apple Health virtually unusable and make me want to switch to Android.

Hello mspeck1,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We see that you are having issues with duplicate workouts from different data sources.

We’d be happy to help!

You can follow the steps in Manage Health data on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch specifically under “Prioritize data sources” so that the Health app can better manage duplicate workouts recorded.

Have a great day!
