BUG: Apple TV 4K 2021 Siri Remote Sends Sony TV to Store Display Mode

Upgraded from the previous version of Apple TV 4K to the new 2021 release and it keeps sending my Sony Bravia TV into “Store Display” mode randomly when using the volume or mute buttons on the new Siri remote.

It’s somehow overwriting the TV settings and to resolve it I have to enter the TV Initial Setup from the TV settings and switch it from retail demo to HOME then I have to go into the video settings and turn OFF all of the ABHORRENT smooth motion settings that for whatever reason every TV manufacturer defaults to ON so everything doesn’t look like a soap opera shot on video. And I have to do that on every input.

It is definitely the new Apple TV 4K that’s the culprit as I switched back to the previous gen Apple TV 4K and remote for a day and it stopped then switched back and the problem returned. We only used the Apple TV as input during the testing phase.

Have updated the latest Apple TVOS and the TV firmware is up to date.

Considering exchanging for another unit to see if it’s still an issue. The TV has been a champ, so I hate to fork out for a replacement.

Has anybody else had any trouble like this? It’s infuriating! Such a shame as the whole family really likes the redesign of the new remote.
