Voices on phonecall when VoLTE is ON sound muffled, when VoLTE is OFF it sounds good, iPhone 11 Pro.

Got a brand new 11 Pro and noticed that the voices from the other end sound muffled when VoLTE is ON, tried different simcards from different providers, still the same. My own voice is heard okay by others but not the best

Tried out a phonecall with my sister's iPhone 11 (not pro) and my old SE 1st gen, with VoLTE ON and when using those phones the voice on the other end sounds good. So what could be the issue? my service is fine, I can see all 5 bars. When I turn VoLTE OFF on my 11 Pro everything sounds good, even my own voice is heard better by the other person.

How is it possible that with the same simcard on (older) other devices the voices sound clear even when VoLTE is ON but when I call with my 11 Pro with VoLTE ON voices are muffled. Is this a defect?

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 14

I’m happy that it’s a good phone. VoLTE really has no advantage to the user; carriers like it because it frees up GSM bandwidth. VoLTE essentially digitizes voice and sends it as data; in that way it is similar to Wi-Fi calling. But its quality depends on the bandwidth and strength of the cellular (mobile) data signal. My carrier in the US doesn’t even make it an option to turn off VoLTE.

Install the speedtest.net app or go to speedtest.net (or another speed testing app) and, with Wi-Fi off, check your LTE speed. If its slow (under 10 Mbps) or you are using mobile data at the same time that would account for the poorer VoLTE quality.

I know because it was in seal when I bought it and I checked it at that link you provided, it said that it wasn't activated yet. I got home, opened it and activated it with my simcard. The warranty started the minute I activated it. So nothing suspicious. So can't really return it, other than that problem I am happy and wonder whether I should just use it with VoLTE OFF. I have a feeling Apple won't be able to do much about it. Is it even worth exchanging it or repairing it?

The link I provided to you has absolutely no information on when it was activated and the warranty starts when the iPhone is originally purchased from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller. Unless the person went to the Apple Store that very day and then immediately sold it to you that very day you can’t have a warranty that extends from that date.

The machine to seal a box so it looks like it has never been opened costs about $50. So new in seal means nothing. And any phone sold on craigslist almost certainly has something wrong with it, or is a stolen phone.

Go to https://checkcoverage.apple.com/ again and enter the serial number. Or go to Settings/General/About and look at the warranty field.

Just for clarification, I bought it on a website similar to craigslist. I live in Europe and said ''craigslist'' just to make it easier to understand for you guys, the craigslist in my country is really reliable. Also like I said, the warranty date started the moment I activated it, which is may 9. I just checked again because you asked, but I already told you guys, may 9.

Before I put my simcard in it, it said that I had to activate it. See screenshot, nothing shadey. Like I said, I activated it on may 9, the coverage ends on may 9 2022. (btw the warranty has always started on the day I activated for every iPhone I got prior to this, same goes for this one)

Anyway, with VoLTE off everything is good, with it on, voices are muffled, I don't think it's worth going to Apple with this problem, as they will either repair it or swap for a refurb.
