iPad storage full from “Other” AFTER erasing and restore

My 32Gb 1st gen iPad Pro (14.4.2) was running out of storage due to “Other.” As per some of the articles I found, I decided to do a backup, a full erase and restore. Upon completion, it was unable to restore from backup. I looked at the storage and other had grown to fill the empty space. So I did a second erase of the device, this time not linking my iCloud to the device, or attempting any kind of restore just to see if I could get enough space to run a software update. No Dice. I have a factory reset iPad Pro with essentially 0 available storage. I’m really scratching my head at this point on the next steps to clear out that “other” data.

@MichelPM, Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I ended up contacting Apple Support by phone and it was suggested that I do the erase and restore while connected through my Mac. I was able to do so as well as the iPadOS update from the Mac while connected. This seems to have solved my issue.

I think it is time you search online to locate and call contact your nearest, “local” Apple Store location to try/attempt to make an appointment to get your Apple iPad looked at/diagnosed and options presented to you.

OR, failing that,

Contact Apple support via the contact support link located at the upper right hand corner of every Webpage of these Apple support communities.

Use the Device Performance and Update, Backup & Restore support categories.

OR

by installing and using the Apple Support app found in the iOS App Store.

Tap the iOS App Store link below.

OR
