Apple lightning to 3.5mm worked iPhone 7 not 12 ?

Last year, bought from Amazon an Apple brand (and packaged) lightning to 3.5mm adapter. Worked on various family iPhone7s. Not working now that we've upgraded to 12s. Have tried the various reboots etc from generic help places. On one 12 , it works for a couple minutes then stops, on another never works at all . Do we need to buy new adapters ?

thanks

Thanks for getting in touch, ASquit!

It sounds like you have an Apple branded lightning cable that isn't working like you expect, that you bought last year. We can definitely help.

When it comes to Apple products, including accessories, there is a 1 year manufacturer's warranty against defects. So, if you're still within a year of the purchase, and the cable is defective, you can get a replacement under warranty.

Now, we won't be able to do a warranty replacement over Apple Support Communities, but you can get the process started if you Contact Apple for support and service. Be sure to keep the defective accessory, as you will need to send it back to Apple to get a replacement.

If you are out of the warranty period, you can also reach out to look at at-cost replacement options as well.

Hope that helps!

Take care.
