Airtags missing in Find my on other iOS Device - Not syncing via iCloud?

Turns out it was my error, the solution was so simple although I never remember seeing this mentioned anywhere and I don’t believe it’s shown in the packaging for the AirTags.

So, in the Find My app Devices was selected showing all my Apple devices like my iPhone, iPad, watch, and Mac. Air Tags doesn’t show up in the Device list. You have to click on Items, just to the right of Devices. AirTags show up and items. Geez!

in the Find My app, look in between devices and me at the bottom of your screen and you should see “items.” That’s where your AirTags should show up. If not, make sure you have upgraded all devices to the latest iOS. Apple made this change with very little communication; the support employee on the phone and the employee in the physical store didn’t even know about it. This was just a very incomplete roll out.

The same thing happened to me but then I realized that "devices" was selected on the bottom bar and AirTags only show up under "items"

I had the same problem. When I updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 15, my AirTags disappeared from the iPad.

The fix for me was easy. On my iPhone, I renamed one of the AirTags. A few seconds later, they all appeared on the iPad. I then renamed it back, as I liked the old name.

iOS 15.0.2 fixed it. It was a frigging bug. All that Apple had to say was that: "AirTag might not appear in the Find My Items tab:.

Not, reboot the device 3 times, get close to a window. Apple should have said: "Yes it it a known issue and it will be fixed on the next release" SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!

I had this problem when moving to a new phone. I ended up removing one of the AirTags on my old phone and then adding it on my new phone. When I did that it said the new phone needed some changes to enable end to end encryption, and I said ok and added the AirTag. After that all my AirTags showed on both devices.

Are you looking in the “items” tab and not the “devices” tab in the app?

Mine actually appeared again when I connected to wifi. I was outside on 4G but I had a good amount of signal according to the bars. It seems that if the signal is not good enough, it appears as though they do not exist rather than making it user friendly and saying it’s having connection issues.

I had to reset the AirTag and add it again to get it to show up. After that the Items tab went from empty to showing the same tag twice. I solved that by maybe signing out of iCloud and back in, but since it was over a week ago I have, of course, totally forgotten how I solved the duplicate problem.

The hardest part really was getting the AirTag open. Almost impossible to twist the back. After I did, though, I was able to follow the reset instructions that were on Apple's support site.

They should propogate to all iOS and Mac devices signed-in w/ the same AppleID.

However, this synchronization does NOT appear to be instantaneous (or even same day)

How long ago did you pair the tags using your phone?

I’d also suggest a power-off and restart of your recently updated phone if you’ve not done so already. (can’t do any harm)

Check the items tab in the findmy app. Seems the AirTags are shown as accessories and in the items tab.

Renaming the AirTags solved the problem for me. Thanks for posting.

I have had this issue for a couple of weeks now, and always had good connection (either wifi or LTE). There’s a fix which is of course removing and readding all of them one by one. I haven’t done that yet because I was hoping that Apple would push an update to fix this, but looks like that’s not happening anytime soon, so I’m going to try this fix (until it happens again)

Actually a few hours later they showed up. So now all my airtag items show up on both my iPhone and iPad since they’re signed into my iCloud.

FYI … AirTags are designed to NOT appear in a browser-based “FindMy” window.

This is INTENTIONAL; the browser doesn’t have access to your private keys necessary to decrypt the tag’s location.

AirTags only appear using the FindMy APP running on a “Trusted Device” (i.e. an Apple device running iOS, iPadOS, MacOS) signed-in with the same AppleID.
