ApplePay not working on mid 2012 MacBook Air

I have a mid 2012 MacBook Air. Have ApplePay on my phone but I cannot use it on my Mac. From what I've researched I should be able to do it. I've turned on bluetooth on both devices. Checked the box on my phone to allow ApplePay to be used on my Mac. But there is nowhere on my Mac to set it up and when I'm online and try to pay with my phone nothing happens. When I search for ApplePay I get zero results.
