iCloud
What is the Point of iCloud when it can’t help you with freeing space on your phone? I want the pictures, but not on my phone. I deleted them, and was in shock when they also were deleted from ICloud.

iCloud is a syncing system, not an 'external hard drive'. Try going to Settings/Your Name/iCloud. On the Photos live, tap the arrow on the right side. Then select Optimize iPhone Storage. The Optimize will take some time to take effect.
