I hope someone will figure it out. The only way I can tell is by feeling the heat on my leg through my pants and when I take the phone out of my pocket I have 2 hours of black video and a battery level at 40%.

Figure what out? You're clearly doing the equivalent of "pocket dialing".
Pressing your screen in the lower right activates the iPhone camera. Protect your iPhone while it's in your pocket.

Try turning on the camera on your locked iPhone without the pocket part. Simply press the camera icon in the lower right. Guess what ... it works.
OK, I understand about the image. It does look different for a non-Face ID iPhone.
Try swiping from right to left on the lock screen. That should invoke the Camera. And that's very likely what occurs in your pocket.

It's an iPhone 7 plus, there is no camera icon, just a black screen unless I use my finger print to unlock it. When I move it, the date and time will show and it says press home to unlock.
Or try simply swiping from right to left on your lock screen. That opens the Camera app as well.
That's not the display image I have. There is no camera icon on my screen. Well, thanks anyway for trying to help but I'm not going to waste any more time with it.
That makes sense because I can swipe to the left and a search screen appears. Now all I have to do is figure out how to disable that function. Thanks.
