Microphone hissing sound

When I record video with the front camera, each clip starts out with a “whoosh” sound. If you’ve ever used iMovie it is the sound that is made when your transition has the sound effect setting switched on. After the sound finishes, the audio is slightly muffled. You can hear it and understand it, but it is nowhere near as clear as the audio when using the back camera. How do I fix this??!? It’s iPhone X and it’s running the latest software update.

Hi lorina150,

We see you're having an issue with the front camera on your iPhone. Do you have a case on the device that could be impacting this? If you take the case off does the issue persist? Do you use any other apps that have access to record content with your iPhone camera like a social media app? Does the same behavior continue there?

Additionally here's a resource that might be helpful for your scenario: If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Take care.
