Cannot update/restore iPad Air 3rd Gen wifi

I'm trying to reset my Ipad as i lost my code. I connected it to the mac, i get the message "There's a problem with the [your device name] that requires it to be updated or restored.". I click on update and nothing happens. Same if I try "restore"

hi mate, thank you for looking into this. I found the issue. I was using an old version of iTunes. I downloaded the latest version on my windows laptop and it went past that step. It's restoring now.

I don’t know that there is much more that you can do on your own, so it’s probably time to contact Apple for help like the support article states to do at the end. You can click or yap on that link to start the process.

  • If you can’t update or restore your device with recovery mode, you can't use recovery mode because of broken buttons, or your device is stuck in Activation Lock, contact Apple Support.
