Has the glitch affecting mid-2014 MacBook Pro 13" model when installing MacOS Big Sur been patched?

At the launch of MacOS Big Sur, there was a documented problem with the installation of this software on late-2013 and mid-2014 13" MacBook Pros leading to a crash with a black screen. Apple addressed this then, but has not said anything about having fixed this issue. Has this glitch been patched and is it safe to upgrade at this time?

Apple has allowed Big Sur to install onto those 2013-2014 MBPros with one of the later versions of the Big Sur installer. If you already have a copy of the Big Sur installer, then I recommend you delete it and even empty the Trash. Then download the Big Sur installer again to be sure you have the latest version.

You need to have at least 36GB of free storage space (50GB of free storage if using a USB installer, Internet Recovery Mode, or upgrading from a macOS 10.11 or earlier):

Make sure to have a good backup in case something goes wrong.
