can you get a new M1 ipad pro to run software designed for mac?

This is a limitation of iPadOS. While iPadOS and macOS have the same base technology, and the apps can share a code base, iPadOS does not support .pkg or .dmg files. If you are the app developer, you will need to re-compile the app for use on iPadOS and then submit it to the App Store.


You also may have better luck with these questions in the developers' forum. This was originally posted in the business/education forum, and while it may indeed involve business/education use, it is more of a question about the underlying workings of development.
