Ipod shuffle 2GB 2nd gen won't charge

Hello.

I have a Ipod shuffle which was perfect something 1-2 years ago but I then stopped using it. But now I tried to charge it but its not charging. I have restored it and updated its software to its latest version. When I plug it to my Windows laptop it opens its folder and shows its contents. The status light blinks orange countinuosly and never stops. If I eject it and keep connected to the usb port its status light does not light up and never show anything. Please give me a solution. I have its original charger but if I charge with it the status light blinks orange 3 times and then nothing happens also it does not charge. Thankyou.

Thankyou for your reply but I solved my problem. I first plugged my ipod to my computer and opened itunes and then enabled the "use as disk" option and then again dissabled that option after that I shut down the laptop and kept it on charging. Then I plugged the ipod with its usb in usb 2.0 port of my laptop and then it began to charge but how can I charge my ipod when I am using my laptop ?
