Is all Dolby Atmos music lossless?

I am seeing Dolby Atmos emblem on music that is available in that format, and Hi-Res Lossless or Lossless on other music. Shouldn't I see both emblems on Dolby Atmos music, or is it assumed that all Dolby Atmos music is lossless?

Hi Jefmedia,

It sounds like you're wondering if spatial audio with Dolby Atmos is lossless. We're glad you've joined us in Apple Support Communities. Let's see if this helps.

Spatial audio with Dolby Atmos is about having a surround sound experience with your speakers on compatible devices. Check out About spatial audio with Dolby Atmos in Apple Music for more information. You can use Dolby Atmos with any music in the Apple Music catalog that supports this feature.

Lossless audio in Apple music is different. It's about the compression of the recordings, rather than surround sound. Lossless audio offers the highest-quality of recordings. Take a look at About lossless audio in Apple Music for details on how lossless files works.

You can use Dolby Atmos and lossless audio together or separately depending on the compatibility of the devices you have, your iOS version, and subscription to Apple Music.

There's also a helpful Apple Support YouTube video that shows the emblems you reference for both features in How to hear spatial audio and lossless audio in Apple Music.

We hope that helps with your question and take care!
