I have had my new iPhone 11 about six weeks. Periodically, maybe about every two weeks or so, ALL my apps suddenly disappear from the screen. Every single one, except the four in the "dock" at the bottom. I am left staring at the smoky background. When I turn my phone off and back on, they all reappear. What can I do to prevent this? I can't find any reference to the problem anywhere.

Try a Forced Restart instead of just turning it off:
Force restart could work, but if you already turn off the phone and back on they reappear only to disappear again might be storage or might need to turn your phone off and one daily. Could be not enough available storage space on the phone, such as having less than 20-25% available storage so it causes your phone to start acting strange because it’s trying to keep up with everything you have saved and it’s everyday normal simple tasks. Forced restart did not help, though when I tried to re-download, it came up to open rather than download. Hence it was present on phone all the time. I finally was able to recover it by going to the app library and dragging the app from that screen to main screen.
Ok, I'll try that next time it happens...in a few weeks, most likely. But what an odd thing it is!
