Can I use Apple Music lossless on my Apple TV HD (4th generation)?

I did a little more looking and it appears from what I read that lossless will only be available for the ATV 4K. I'm using the ATV HD for accessing my Apple Music subscription and feeding that via an outboard DAC into my analog stereo system. Sound quality is pretty good so not sure if it will be worth upgrading to a 4K. Jury still out on that.
What about Apple TV HD? I found the lossless setting for my ATV 4K but it is not available for the ATV HD.
Because the ATV only has a HDMI output, I use a 2-channel HDMI audio extractor that has an optical output. ATV plugs into extractor via HDMI and from the extractor to the DAC is optical. The HDMI signal continues from the extractor to a computer monitor so I can use the ATV remote to manage the ATV. Analog output from the DAC plugs into the stereo via RCA cables. Works really well.

This is the one I am using: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24278 They have several similar and I believe they do pass through the audio on the HDMI. If I understand how these work, the audio is just a copy of what is on the HDMI line.
Good question - that would be bad if they prevent it playing on AppleTV 4/HD.
I suspect you are correct. My son has my AppleTV 4 (HD), will check when I have a chance.
I haven't tried with the 4k as my streamer would require optical or SPDIF in.
Funnily enough I mentioned one of those in another reply - I'd be tempted if the extractor could not only provide optical/analogue out but also send the audio to the attached monitor/TV over HDMI.
