when not in use, the HomePod produces brief screeching sounds

When I'm not using my HomePod, all of a sudden there will be a loud screeching sound lasting about 3 seconds. It started just recently, about 2 weeks ago. Any recs?

Try unplugging it for over 24 hrs , then plug it back in and do a hard Reset using the method below, then set it up again

Reset HomePod - Apple Support

To Reset HomePod to its factory settings:

  1. Unplug HomePod or unplug the power adapter for HomePod mini, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
  2. Wait 10 seconds, then touch your finger to the top of HomePod and hold it there.
  3. The white spinning light will turn red. Keep your finger down.
  4. Siri will say that your HomePod is about to reset. When you hear three beeps, you can lift your finger.

If you still see HomePod in the Home app after you reset it, then you'll need to manually remove it from the Home app.
