Apple Music Remote app not working on Apple Watch

Hi Nicholas. I was on a support call with Apple for about an hour. All devices have current software. Agent advised it was a “known issue” that Engineering was working on. No timing on the resolution was provided. I was hoping there was a work around someone on this forum had found. I’m surprised it’s not a bigger issue since they indicated it affects all apple devices. The Remote music app works fine on my iPhone but not on my Watch.

PS… I have unpaired and reset my Watch and deleted and readded the Remote app with no change to the Remote app. You can select any media library but all the app shows is the controls and they don’t do anything. I have also “forgotten” all remotes on the Mac Music settings and readded them. The Mac says you can control your music but the Remote app on the Watch still doesn’t work. I also tried toggling Home Sharing and changing the media library name but that doesn’t make any difference either.

After some further investigation the Watch Remote app works on an older iMac running Catalina 10.15.7 but doesn't work with the Mac BigSur 11.4 on either a MacBook Air or a new iMac. Like originally happened with the original Catalina release, it looks like BigSur 11.4 broke the Remote app on the Watch. It is interesting that the Remote app still works on the iPhone for all Mac iOS releases. Hopefully this will be fixed on a new release (11.5?).
