Hi KiwiDF1234,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities. Here to help.

We understand you're having trouble with Messages on your Mac, specifically around texts with an android user. There are a few settings we will want to make sure are in place for text messages from your Mac to work as expected.

Your iPhone is used to help forward the message from your Mac through your telephone number as an SMS text message. Therefore there are some features on the iPhone settings we will want to look closer at. This next article shows you where to find your phone number in Messages. You will want to make sure the phone number is displayed and selected on both your iPhone and the MacBook Pro.

Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime

As a troubleshooting step, it may be beneficial to follow the steps at the bottom of the above article to turn off and turn back on Messages. We will also want to ensure that Text Message Forwarding to the Mac is enabled. If on already, you can also toggle this off and on as a troubleshooting step.

How to forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac

Finally, if you are able to do so without erasing data you need to preserve, it can be helpful to delete the affected text message thread and start a new conversation. This can clear out message cache which may have resulted in the errors you were seeing.

Hope this helps! Feel free to follow up with the result and we will assist as we can. Take care for now.
