Connect iPhone to Macbook Pro
I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) and I am trying to connect an iPhone to it, but the device does not appear on my macbook. Why cant I see it?

Where are you looking for the iPhone, i.e. in what app?
With Catalina and newer the iPhone is managed via the Finder:
