All of a sudden I cannot receive images or other attachments from non-iphone contacts. Why?

Receiving images and attachments as you described requires MMS messaging through your cellular carrier. MMS requires both the following:

Settings > Messages > MMS Messaging = “on”
Permission to use MMS on your plan from your cellular carrier. This may cost extra.

I have SMS and MMS and have received images from these persons in the past. This just happened today and I can't figure out why???

Again, MMS is a cellular carrier function. I suggest asking them.

T-Mobile was able to come up with a plan to fix this.
