Logic not recognizing Yamaha MIDI keyboard input

Hi!

I'm using Logic Pro (V10.6.1) and i'm trying to connect my Yamaha P255 keyboard as a MIDI and it recognizes that there's an input when it's plugged in but then it doesn't actually show up as an input option when starting a new track.

I've downloaded the Yamaha midi driver plug in and it seems to have worked as it's in the correct files on my laptop.

The keyboard also shows up in the MIDI studio so it's doesn't seem to be a connectivity issue.

I've reset my laptop and also deleted Remove the "com.apple.logic10.plist" & "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" file from the Preferences folder as suggested on another post and still nothing :(

Any help or suggestions would be infinitely appreciated!!

It's a Yamaha P-255, I got it a couple years ago but i'm not sure how old the model is.

I'm connected via this "Ancable USB B MIDI Cable for Instruments, Compatible with Piano, Midi Controller, Midi Keyboard, Audio Interface Recording, USB Microphone and More, 25-Feet". Do you think I should get a different cable and see if that's the issue? Since it's recognizing an input I had ruled the cable out as the problem.

The Input device you're showing is for Audio not MIDI.

Create a single External MIDI track set the track to record (red R) don't worry about inputs or output.

Click record on the Control Bar, play the keyboard for about 15 seconds.

Do you see a track, or recording the looks similar to this. (this is an instrument track, the recording will look the same on an external MIDI track.
