Remote Control Model A1156

Wow! Apple does NOT make that easy to find.

What is it you need to service with the remote? The usual question is about changing the battery. Nothing turned up in the Apple search engine but I found this support document with a google search:

The illustrations are not good but I took pictures of the battery change in my A1178 several years ago:

1) Depress the tiny button on the base:

2) The base, which is revealed to be the battery carrier, pops up:

3) the battery carrier slides out:

4) To reinstall, simple slide the battery carrier into the remote until it clicks into place.

What model iMac/Mac are you trying to use the Remote with?

Sadly those old 1st Gen. White Apple Remotes only worked with older Mac that had a built-in IR receiver and some early Apple TV boxes. I could not find the User Guide for it, but I know that it could control a verity of different Mac functions like wake, Front Row, pause/play iTunes, skip forwards/go back tracks and adjust the volume.

I understand. The newest Mac we have that responds to our A1156 remote is a 2011 iMac. No response from a 2012 MacBook Pro.
