Hi,
I just upgraded my phone from iPhone 7 to XS. My FaceTime and iMessages worked fine on 7 but on XS my phone number just keeps loading. I turned imessgaes and FaceTime off then back on, restarted, signed out and then logged in again and nothing worked. Sometimes it threw this message “an error occurred during action. Try again”.
I just want to be able to send sms and make and receive calls from my Mac.

Have you added the phone number to your Apple ID? You need to change/add the number on your Apple ID. You may have to add the new number before you can remove the old number. After the change, allow up to 24 hours for the change to sync. Before trying to make the change, sign out of Messages/FaceTime on all devices/computers.
