Podcast app keeps playing the wrong show and wrong podcast

Finally fixed it. Delete the podcast app and reinstall it.

Remove the download, then Try marking it as played and then mark it unplayed. Worked for me

So try deleting the podcast app and reinstalling it, it fixed it for me and has been good for the last 4 weeks.

Inept software from Apple is surprising. Unistalling and reinstalling the app worked for me and I didn’t lose my shows :)

I'm finding this happening on my new iPad Air 4 - wasn't happening on my iPad 6th gen. I've tried deleting the downloaded episodes etc. without success - the only thing that worked was restarting the iPad. I'll try removing the Podcast app and reinstall. Fingers crossed!

having the exact same problem. it shows i’m listening to one podcast but it’s the audio from another. and the audio for the one i want plays with the other podcast. it’s been happening for a two weeks with an increasing number of podcasts. appears to only be newly downloaded episodes.

This has been happening to be forever—at least a year but probably more. I will have a whole list of random episodes on my “playing next” and it will glom into one random episode I’ve recently listened to and every time I restart the app, that episode will be on the player at the beginning. If I was midway through another episode, that one will be the next in line at the same time I left it. I’ll skip forward or play the next episode and mark the repeated one as played, but it keeps happening for days and then randomly stops. Then, a few weeks later, another random episode will start doing it.

There’s nothing about these episodes that should make this happen—they’re not downloaded and they don’t have weird settings. They’re marked as played. It’s so annoying.

I guess I’ll delete and re-download but I’m so frustrated I have to go through and figure out all of the episodes I’ll have to mark as played. I have several that I skip around on. So frustrating.

Yes. And it’s driving me bonkers. I have tried unfollowing all my shows, removing all downloads, then restarting. Still the same problem. It seems to have permanently rebranded one show with another.

This is happening to me currently and it is so aggravating!! I never liked this new podcast update to begin with and now that this is happening I am totally over it. There was nothing wrong with the old format to begin with. Guess I’ll have to use Spotify

Im so glad im not alone in this. I'm furious that my wouldn't play. Thanks for the help. Had to redownload the whole thing. I will never appreciate my podcast app in the same way and this is not something I get over easily 😡😡😡😡

This seems to have worked, but I lost all podcasts I wasn’t “following.” Like shows I don’t want the new episodes of or were trying out before subscribing.

Please restore the old update, this podcast update is terrible - it keeps playing episodes I purposely haven’t downloaded instead of those I have. It plays different shows than the ones pictured!!!

Yes! I keep trying to play some older episodes of a podcast I just learned about and it keeps playing random other podcasts that I follow instead. So irritating!
