Atmos and 1080p

Hi - in the UK (in case that matters :)).

Can someone please confirm whether (or not) ATV can produce Atmos independent of a UHD display? In other words, with the ATV plugged directly in to my Atmos soundbar, will I get Atmos even though the soundbar is connected to a 1080p display. It's all app specific and I mainly use Netflix and Disney+.

Thanks for any help.

Netflix requires the Premium UHD (4K) plan for Dolby Atmos options on select titles.

Disney+ has one tier, so that wouldn’t be impacted.

You will need an Apple TV 4K model to get Dolby Atmos options. Non-4K models do not have this ability.

Your audio system (soundbar) needs to support Dolby Atmos in Dolby MAT format, as that is how Apple TV outputs it.
